Embracing Diversity: My Therapist Online's Commitment to LGBTQI+ Inclusivity
Nurturing a Safe Space for LGBTQI+ Healing and Growth
At My Therapist Online, we proudly stand with the LGBTQI+ community, offering a warm, accepting, and supportive space for everyone seeking therapy.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by LGBTQI+ individuals, we are committed to providing a service that is not just inclusive but also celebratory of all identities and expressions.
Our dedication to diversity and inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, from the careful curation of our therapist matches to the personalised care we offer each client.
We recognise the importance of feeling seen, heard, and understood, especially in a therapeutic setting. That's why we ensure that our therapists are not only highly qualified but also culturally competent, with a deep understanding of the issues that may affect those within the LGBTQI+ community. Whether you're seeking support for identity exploration, relationship issues, mental health challenges, or simply looking for a space to express yourself freely, our team is here to welcome you with open arms.
At My Therapist Online, your identity is celebrated, your voice is valued, and your well-being is our utmost priority.
We are committed to fostering an environment where every client, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, can access the compassionate and effective therapy they deserve. Let us be a part of your journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Cultural Competence and Training
At My Therapist Online, we deeply understand the importance of cultural competence in providing effective and empathetic therapy services. Our therapists possess extensive training and experience that equip them to navigate the diverse tapestry of human experiences sensitively and knowledgeably.
Our commitment to cultural competence is reflected in our rigorous selection process for therapists, who must demonstrate not only excellence in their clinical practice but also a profound respect for and understanding of various cultural backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Many of our therapists have pursued additional certifications and training programs that focus on LGBTQI+ issues, including but not limited to:
Gender Affirmative Therapy Training
LGBTQI+ Sensitivity and Awareness Workshops
Continuing Education on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues
Certifications in LGBTQI+ Affirmative Psychotherapy Practices
These qualifications ensure our therapists are well-prepared to provide supportive, affirming, and informed care to our LGBTQI+ clients. They are skilled in addressing topics such as identity exploration, discrimination, relationship dynamics, and mental health challenges specific to the LGBTQI+ community.
At My Therapist Online, we believe that a therapist’s ability to understand and honour each client's unique cultural context is fundamental to effective therapy. This belief drives our ongoing effort to enhance our cultural competence, ensuring that every client feels truly seen, heard, and understood.
Understanding the Tailored Matching Process at My Therapist Online
At My Therapist Online, we recognise that each individual's path to mental health and well-being is unique, particularly for clients from the LGBTQI+ community, who may face distinct challenges and experiences.
Our therapy matching service is designed with this diversity in mind, ensuring that every client's specific needs, preferences, and circumstances are carefully considered to connect them with the most suitable therapist.
Here's how our tailored matching process works for LGBTQI+ clients:
Initial Assessment
Our matching process begins with a confidential application form where you can freely describe the problems you want to address in therapy in as much detail as you feel comfortable. Here, you have the opportunity to express preferences and needs, including therapist gender, religion, and a deep understanding of LGBTQI+ issues.
We encourage people to share as much as they feel comfortable about what they're seeking in therapy, including any specific experiences related to their LGBTQI+ identity, to ensure a match that resonates on a personal and cultural level.
Personalised Matching Criteria
Beyond the initial preferences stated, our matching process incorporates a deeper level of personalisation. We look at the specific issues or goals that the client wishes to address—be it navigating identity challenges, dealing with discrimination or acceptance, exploring relationships, or any other mental health concerns. Our team of mental health professionals then curates a therapist match based on these detailed needs, therapist expertise, and the client's personal preferences.
Flexibility and Choice
We understand that finding the right therapist is a deeply personal decision. That's why our process is designed with flexibility at its core. After the initial match, we offer a free introductory session to ensure that the client feels comfortable and connected with their therapist. If for any reason the match doesn't feel quite right, we are committed to reassessing the client's needs and preferences to find a more suitable therapist, at no extra cost.
Confidentiality and Safety
At My Therapist Online, we prioritise trust, confidentiality, and safety above all, ensuring a secure environment where every client, particularly those from the LGBTQI+ community, can share openly and explore their identity without fear. Our therapists adhere to their own strict ethical standards, professional guidelines, and GDPR regulations, safeguarding your personal information and session details with the utmost confidentiality and care.
Our commitment extends beyond legal obligations, focusing on creating a secure space for all interactions. This commitment is crucial for LGBTQI+ clients who seek a space free from judgment and discrimination. At My Therapist Online, your privacy is guaranteed, and your identity is met with respect and understanding.
We are dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive environment where every client feels valued and empowered. Trust in us to be your partner on the journey to well-being, where your safety and privacy are our paramount concerns.
Feedback to ensure we maintain high standards
At My Therapist Online, we believe that your feedback is essential in ensuring the continuous provision of quality care. We encourage you to share your experiences with us, as your insights help us to understand what we are doing well and where we can improve.
By listening to your feedback, we can make necessary adjustments to our services, enhancing our ability to provide supportive, effective therapy that meets your needs. We view your feedback as a crucial part of our collaborative journey towards better mental health and well-being.

Memorandum of Understanding against Conversion Therapy
My Therapist Online proudly aligns with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) in signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU2) against conversion therapy. This critical document, endorsed by major psychological, psychotherapeutic, and counselling organisations across the UK, unequivocally states that conversion therapy regarding gender identity and sexual orientation, including asexuality, is unethical and unsupported by evidence.
Conversion therapy, defined as any therapy that assumes certain sexual orientations or gender identities are inferior and seeks to change or suppress them, is recognised as potentially harmful. Our commitment to the MoU2 underscores our dedication to the protection of the public and to ending the practice of conversion therapy in the UK, ensuring a safe, affirming, and ethical approach to therapy for everyone.
