Chris Hutchins-Joss
Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT)
Hi, I’m Chris, a therapist with over a decade of experience in mental health care. My journey started in the NHS, where I gained two postgraduate qualifications, supervision training, and years of hands-on experience working with anxiety and depression. These are areas I know deeply and understand how they can cast a long shadow over daily life.
Alongside this, I’ve developed specialized skills in supporting people living with long-term health conditions. Working with organisations like the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK, Multiple Sclerosis charities, and Long COVID services has given me unique insights into the struggles and resilience of those adapting to chronic health issues.
Keeping up with the latest research and training is a passion of mine, so I’m always learning and bringing fresh knowledge to each session. I also share this passion as a supervisor for trainee therapists at a university, guiding and supporting the next generation by evaluating their essays and therapy sessions.
I hold a core belief: you’re stuck, not broken. Together, we’ll explore the skills, insights, and perspectives that help you move through life with more confidence and clarity. Using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I support people in leading lives that feel aligned with their values—feeling a little less tangled up in tricky thoughts and more led by what truly matters.
Let’s find the tools that work for you and get you moving toward a life that feels right.

What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced based & well researched talking therapy. It is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for many mental health problems.
It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for many other mental and physical health problems.
CBT focuses upon how your thoughts and behaviours impact upon your emotions and physical symptoms.
CBT is collaborative treatment and typically involves doing homework tasks between appointments.
It aims to teach you to become your own therapist, teaching you tools so you can keep using the strategies and techniques you have learned after you have finished therapy.
