Helen Joselyn-Gadd
BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapist)
Anxiety Disorders Specialist
Pronouns - She/Her
I have worked in mental health for over 30 years in mainly specialist services, as a nurse and then, for the last 15 years of my career, as a CBT therapist at the National Anxiety Disorders Residential service, working with people with severe and enduring anxiety disorders, alongside Professor David Veale.
As a senior therapist, I provided extensive supervision and teaching to CBT therapist and psychologists, with the aim of enhancing their evidence-based practice and developing their skills in the latest research for psychological problems.
I now work in independent practice.
Throughout my career I have been passionate at learning new skills, techniques and approaches to enhance my practice and ensure that I offer the most effective, evidence based and clinically appropriate treatment to help clients. I continue to do this as an independent therapist attending yearly compassionate focussed therapy weekend workshops, BABCP training and training offered by independent organisations.
As your therapist, my goal is to guide you through your journey of recovery. I will work with you to understand your current difficulties, explore how they originated and identify what is maintaining your problems.
Using both a CBT framework and compassion focussed approach I will support you to look at your problem from an alternative perspective, and explore with you how to challenge your difficulties, always basing this at your pace and need.
Everyone’s experience is specific and unique to them, and I would feel privileged to work alongside you, helping you to meet your goals and improve your quality of life.
