Louise Neervoort
Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) & EMDR Therapist
I am a compassionate and empathic CBT and EMDR therapist with over a decade of experience helping individuals overcome psychological distress and navigate through difficult challenges. I have over 10 years experience helping people overcome a range of psychological difficulties including PTSD, cPTSD, OCD, depression, anxiety issues, low self esteem, attachment issues, disordered eating and more. I am a trauma specialist and have spent the last 6 and a half years in NHS trauma services.
I believe that every person is an individual, has resilience and will have found remarkable ways to cope with life's difficulties. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations or patterns with our thinking or relating that we aren't able to find our way forward from on our own and this is where therapy can be very helpful. Therapy is non judgemental and supportive but at times challenging and even though it can be hard, most people find that therapy is worth the effort.
I use a range of methods but key ones are CBT and EMDR. During your first sessions, we would discuss which methods would be most helpful for you.

What is CBT?
CBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be very effective at helping people with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression. It is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings and actions are interconnected and focuses on changing your thoughts and actions to change how you feel.
If we worked together, we would use CBT to find ways of gaining clarity about your current problems and find new ways of managing difficulties to improve aspects of your life. The process is always collaborative and I work very flexibly, adapting the therapy to suit you and what you would like to achieve.
I am a fully accredited CBT therapist and have worked in both private and public services using CBT. I have supervised other CBT therapists in the NHS and have a special interest in trauma, PTSD and complex PTSD having worked in trauma services for over six years.
What is EMDR?
EMDR Stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing.
EMDR is a treatment used for a range of psychological issues including trauma and PTSD. It was specially designed by Francine Shapiro to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives, traumatic events which affect us in the present. It is a therapy recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
EMDR can be particularly useful for processing traumatic memories quickly.
