Michelle Copley

Integrative Counsellor (including CBT).

I have been qualified for over a decade, during this time I have worked with a wide range of concerns, including; trauma (including PTSD), grief, suicide, relationship issues, addictions, parenting issues, depression, and anxiety.

I aim to be engaging in my work, understanding your struggles and helping you to move forward from them. I recognise how difficult it can be to begin the counselling journey, and I aim to make it as easy as possible for you.

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in a variety of counselling techniques and approaches, able to choose the best evidence-based approach based on what you say and how you feel, so that together we can form a treatment plan to reach your desired outcomes.

I aim to make sessions conversational enough to make you feel comfortable, helping you to gain insights and put things into perspective and make sense of your issues in a way you haven’t been able to before.

My main approaches are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which focuses on you and your inner beliefs & behaviours and Transactional Analysis (TA), which focuses on your relationships with others. I find the two combined are highly effective in helping people achieve improved outcomes.

I am equally experienced face to face and video sessions and take into consideration that it is the connection and understanding that we form which is the most important predictor of success, not the modality of the counselling. I have found that video counselling is highly effective and believe that this is because the client feels secure in their own safe space. It also makes help accessible to everyone, no matter where they are geographically or what restrictions they have physically, and I am very keen to promote this as a way of helping people.

At the beginning of each person’s counselling journey, I always feel that I am reaching out a helping hand to offer support, guidance, and empowerment. I really hope that you will take my hand and together we can get you back on track.
